Serve with parmesan cheese, garlic bread, and/or a side salad if desired.
    Enjoy!

Notes

  1. This sauce is best cooked on low as it needs time to simmer and develop flavors (Slow and steady wins the race!).   So, I really don’t recommend cooking this on high, as the flavors won’t get the chance to ‘Marry’ and it might taste bitter.  The longer it cooks, the better it will taste.
  2. If you want to add sugar you can but It’s not necessary.  I don’t find this sauce to be too acidic as the canned tomato sauce and soup already have some sugar in them.   I suggest giving it a taste test at the end to see if you need to add any sugar and only add a little at a time.
  3. You can switch out the vegetables if you wish.  Carrots also work really well with this sauce.
  4. If you don’t like a super meaty sauce then you can add less ground beef.
  5. It may look extremely thick at first but it will get a lot thinner as it cooks.
  6. One of my favorite recipes to make for dinner the next day, with this sauce, is my slow cooker lasagna.  You can find the recipe here!  Or watch the video here!
  7. This recipe freezes extremely well.  I often make a double batch and will freeze it to have some quick and easy dinners in the following months.
