One-Pan Ground Beef Stroganoff – A Cheap Alternative

If you like beef stroganoff and you are on a budget then you’re in luck!

This recipe is just as delicious as your traditional stroganoff but made with a much cheaper alternative; ground beef.

With inflation prices that keep rising, looking for sales and buying in bulk has become more important than ever, at least for me. Ground beef tends to go on sale the most often, where I live, and is usually the cheapest out of all of the meats. Therefore, I like to use ground beef in recipes whenever I can.

I saw this recipe for the first time in our newest family cookbook, which was created by my cousin Katia (this recipe is also hers, I just made a few little changes).

One-Pan Ground Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bag egg noodles, wide
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Cook ground beef with the onions in a large skillet over medium-high heat, and season with garlic powder as well as salt and pepper to taste. Cook until ground beef is browned and onions are translucent.
    Remove excess grease but keep at least 1 tbsp.
  • Add sliced mushrooms and cook, stirring often, until they are nice and golden.
    Add garlic and cook for an additional 30-35 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in flour and let cook for another minute, stirring constantly.
    Add paprika, ¼ tsp of black pepper, beef broth, milk, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix all together and bring to a boil.
  • Once boiling, add the egg noodles and press down gently into the broth until mostly submerged.
    Cover, turn the heat down to low, and let simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the noodles are cooked and tender.
  • Once the noodles are done to your liking, stir in sour cream and continue to simmer, uncovered, for another 4-5 minutes or until heated through.
    Taste test and add more salt and pepper if needed.
  • Serve and Enjoy!
